Beef Bone Broth

Ingredients
  

Bone Broth Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef bones marrow or knuckle bones
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 carrots diced
  • 3 celery stalks chopped
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar helps extract nutrients
  • 10 cups water or enough to cover bones
  • 2 tsp salt to taste
  • 1 tsp black peppercorns
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 4 cloves garlic crushed

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place beef bones on a baking sheet and roast for 30 minutes to enhance flavor.
  • Transfer roasted bones to a large stockpot or slow cooker. Add chopped vegetables, apple cider vinegar, and bay leaves.
  • Pour in enough water to fully cover the bones. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a low simmer.
  • Simmer uncovered for 12-24 hours, skimming off any foam that rises to the top.
  • Strain broth through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth, discarding solids.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Allow to cool and store in glass jars or containers.

Notes

Use as a soup base, sip as a warm beverage, or incorporate into stews. Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
