Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Citrus Juicer
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Glass Bottle or Pitcher

Ingredients

For the Margarita Mix

  • 1 cup fresh lime juice about 8-10 limes
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice optional, for extra depth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar or use honey/agave for a natural option

Optional Add-ins

  • 1 tbsp orange juice for added citrus balance
  • 1/2 tsp orange zest optional, for extra flavor

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine water and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar is fully dissolved. Do not boil. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Juice fresh limes and lemons (if using) and strain to remove pulp and seeds.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together lime juice, lemon juice, cooled simple syrup, and optional orange juice or zest.
  • Transfer to a glass bottle or pitcher and refrigerate until ready to use. Chill for at least 30 minutes for best flavor.
  • To make a margarita, mix 3 oz tequila, 2 oz margarita mix, and 1 oz orange liqueur. Shake with ice and serve in a salt-rimmed glass.

Notes

For a skinny margarita, use Stevia or agave instead of sugar. For a spicy twist, add a few slices of jalapeƱo while simmering the simple syrup.
